Chinese President Xi Jinping and US President Donald Trump shook hands at the start of their meeting in Beijing, with the Chinese leader not letting his American counterpart take the initiative during the 14-second handshake.

At first, their hands were closer to Trump, but then Xi leveled the position, and their hands were at the same distance from the two leaders.

The US president lightly tapped Xi on the cheek with his left hand several times.

After the greeting, the leaders released their hands, during which Trump additionally placed his palm on the elbow of the Chinese leader.
