Teachers from Berkarat village school in Aragatsotn Province were transported to Aparan city by vans on Wednesday so they could participate in the election campaign of Armenia’s ruling Civil Contract party.
Two of them said that they had shortened their class hours to participate in the campaign “for [PM Nikol] Pashinyan”
One of the teachers, Varditer Grigoryan, stated that all the teachers, especially the school principal Anna Vardanyan, expressed a desire to participate in the election campaign, and the schoolchildren were sent home. She did not see anything bad or unusual in this.
Grigoryan added that they had prepared for this day in advance.
Earlier, the Armenian News-NEWS.am correspondent had found out that teachers and students of several schools in the Aparan community, in particular the villages of Aragats and Kuchak, also participated in the ruling party's election campaign during class hours.
Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, who is on vacation and heads the proportional representation list of parliamentary candidates for the ruling Civil Contract party in the June 7 parliamentary election, had not responded to the question about this fact.
