The Ministry of Economy of Armenia has petitioned to businesses regarding the launch of direct trade with Turkey.
“As of May 11, 2026, the start of direct trade between Armenia and Turkey has been given. As a result, an opportunity has been created to carry out direct commodity circulation between the two countries, which will contribute to a significant reduction in costs and delivery times and the expansion of new markets and cooperation opportunities for business. At the same time, in the case of transportation through the territory of third countries, the country of origin or final destination of the goods can also be officially indicated as ‘Armenia’ or ‘Turkey.’ In case of questions, please call 011597211,” notes the respective statement by the Ministry of Economy of Armenia.
Earlier, Armenian News-NEWS.am reported that direct trade between Armenia and Turkey in terms of customs, without re-registration, has become possible.
And Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on Tuesday had said that according to the legislative regulations of the Turkish side, Armenia was not on Turkey’s list of countries to conduct direct trade with, which is why the goods from Turkey were first registered as exported to a third country, and then re-exported to Armenia.
“There are many Turkish-made goods in Armenia; that is, they were being taken to another country, registered, and then brought [to Armenia]. Now they are registering it so that Armenia is indicated directly, not physically, but as the country of delivery,” Pashinyan had explained.
