Russia’s Communist Party leader Gennady Zyuganov has demanded to stop receptions of Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in Moscow. Zyuganov made the statement a few days after Russian President Vladimir Putin had compared the processes taking place in Armenia with the earlier developments in Ukraine.

At the opening of the plenary session of the Russian State Duma, Zyuganov stated: “I never thought that calls would be made from Yerevan to keep [Moscow’s] Red Square under attack.” Although Zyuganov did not name Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy in this regard, he alluded to Zelenskyy’s recent remarks in Yerevan, the Armenian capital.

On May 4, Zelenskyy had stated in Yerevan that Russians were terrified of drones circling over Red Square. Zyuganov used the phrase “that stunted guy, you don’t even know who he is” in reference to Zelenskyy.

“The question arises: why do they allow this in Yerevan, and why do they accept Pashinyan in Moscow? I insist that this figure, regardless of how they voted for him, should never appear in our capital again,” Zyuganov said.

According to the leader of Russia’s Communist Party, the Armenian premier has inflicted such humiliation and insult on Russia that “it is difficult to imagine” anything more “on the threshold of the great holiday [of May 9].”
