The situation in the Middle East remains tense and unstable. Reports of talks between Iran and the US in Islamabad only reflect attempts to establish a dialogue; contacts are irregular and have not yielded results so far.

At the same time, Israel, despite the declared ceasefire, continues to strike Lebanon, and this indicates a de facto violation of the ceasefire. In general, the region remains in a state of prolonged escalation of tension, and the risks of further escalation of this tension exist.

Armenian News-NEWS.am presents below a recap of the main developments that took place in and regarding the Middle East on Wednesday night.

The US Senate has again blocked the Democratic Party resolution aimed at limiting President Donald Trump's power to use military force against Iran, CBS News reports. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has warned of the accountability of states that collude with Israel.

“Enmity with the Great People of Iran is a foolish gamble. Collusion with Israel in doing so: unforgivable. Those colluding with Israel to sow division will be held to account,” Araghchi wrote on X.

The United States hopes to get more active steps from China to restore navigation through the Strait of Hormuz, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said in an interview with Fox News. “We hope to convince them [i.e. China] to play a more active role in getting Iran to walk away from what they are doing now, and trying to do now in the Persian Gulf,” Rubio said.
