Armenian Prosecutor General Anna Vardapetyan on Friday received the recently appointed Iranian ambassador to Armenia, Khalil Shirgholami.

First, Vardapetyan congratulated the ambassador on assuming this diplomatic mission in Armenia, and wished him fruitful work for the benefit of the peoples of the two countries, the Prosecutor General's Office of Armenia informed Armenian News-NEWS.am.

But before discussing the agenda items, the prosecutor general of Armenia extended condolences on the death of numerous Iranian citizens as a result of the military operations.

In turn, the Iranian ambassador thanked Anna Vardapetyan for responding to the initiative of the meeting, emphasized the centuries-old close ties between the two friendly peoples based on mutual trust, and lauded the current level of cooperation between the prosecutors' offices of the two countries.

Subsequently, they discussed several matters of mutual interest, which mainly related to the extradition of wanted persons, the provision of legal assistance, etc.
