The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) member states, at their summit in May, will be able to discuss matters related to attempts to bring Armenia into the West's orbit. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this at a press conference following the BRICS ministerial meeting in New Delhi.

"Now, I think, there will be an optimal opportunity to discuss the emerging issues related to the fact that the European Union insists on bringing Armenia into its orbit, including at the risk of losing the advantages that Armenia has within the Eurasian Economic Union. The opportunity to discuss all these issues honestly and openly will be created at the end of the last week of May, when the summit of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council will be held in Kazakhstan," Lavrov said.

“It is true that I heard that Prime Minister [of Armenia] Pashinyan noted that he is busy with pre-election affairs [ahead of the June 7 parliamentary election in Armenia] and will not be able to travel to this meeting of the leaders of the Eurasian Economic Union. That would be sad, of course, because this is a good opportunity to discuss the issues that are hanging in the air,” the Russian foreign minister added.
