Russia and Armenia currently have close, but at the same time complicated relations, taking into account the West’s attempts to subjugate Yerevan. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated this at a press conference following the BRICS ministerial meeting in New Delhi.

“We [i.e. Russia] have relations with Armenia, these relations are close, allied, but at the same time complicated, taking into account how the West is trying to subjugate Armenia, as in the case of some other members of the Commonwealth of Independent States, again, and also to break Armenia’s mutually beneficial economic, trade and, investment ties with its partners in the CIS and the Eurasian Economic Union,” said the Russian FM.
