BMW M is sending off the sixth-generation M3 in the most enthusiast-friendly way imaginable. The 2027 BMW M3 CS Handschalter is a limited-edition farewell that strips weight, sharpens the chassis, and ditches the dual-clutch and xDrive in favor of a row-your-own gearbox sending power exclusively to the rear wheels.

At the heart of it is the familiar S58 3.0-liter twin-turbo inline-six, here tuned to 473 horsepower and 406 lb-ft of torque, paired solely with a 6-speed manual. BMW quotes 0-60 mph in 4.1 seconds (3.8 with rollout) and a top speed of 180 mph with the M Driver's Package. Standard driver aids include Front Collision Warning, Lane Departure Warning, and Speed Limit Info, while Comfort Access and Park Distance Control handle the daily-driver duties. It's a sensible baseline that keeps the Handschalter usable beyond the paddock.

Buyers who want a touch more convenience can add the optional Daily Driver Package, which bundles a power-operated trunk lid and a Head-Up Display. It's a small upgrade, but it sharpens the M3 CS Handschalter's case as a livable everyday performance car.

The M3 CS Handschalter wears the signature CS-style frameless BMW kidney grille with a pared-back design. Red contour lines trace the perimeter, and an "M3 CS" badge sits on the upper of the two horizontal grille bars, marking this car as something distinct from the standard M3 lineup.
