Mercedes-AMG just pulled the sheet off its most radical four-door yet, and the gas pump isn't invited. The 2027 AMG GT 4-Door Coupe ditches the twin-turbo V8 for a trio of axial-flux electric motors making up to 1,153 hp, hurling the sedan from 0-60 mph in a flat 2.0 seconds and on to an electronically limited 186 mph with the Performance Package. It's the first series-production EV to use this motor tech, and it can gulp down roughly 286 miles of range in 10 minutes on a 600-kW charger.
But the headline number isn't the only trick. A new AMGFORCE Sport+ mode pipes in authentic AMG V8 sound and simulates gear changes—complete with traction interruption—so the GT 63 doesn't feel like just another silent EV pretending to be a sports car. The GT 55 lands at U.S. dealers later in 2026, with the 1,153-hp GT 63 following in early 2027.

Twin wireless charging pads handle smartphones, while two illuminated cupholders sit separated from the charging trays. A closed-storage armrest and three-dimensional winglet frame the central vents with a sculptural flourish.
Newly designed front seats deliver aggressive lateral support without punishing long-distance comfort. Optional AMG Performance seats add integrated headrests and galvanized cutouts in the backrest that nod to lightweight racing construction.
The AMG Performance steering wheel features a flat bottom, paddle shifters for recuperation control, and two round AMG DRIVE UNIT buttons with crisp color OLED displays. Drivers can swap drive programs in a single twist.
Rear passengers aren't an afterthought. Recessed footwells carve out generous legroom and a natural knee angle, while headroom stays surprisingly generous for a fastback silhouette. Buyers can choose between two contoured rear seats or an optional three-passenger bench.
Overhead, an available SKY CONTROL panoramic glass roof switches between transparent and opaque in individual segments. After dark, illuminated AMG crests and motorsport-inspired racing stripes light up the glass in sync with the ambient lighting.
A continuous light strip traces the top of the dashboard and flows into the doors, framing the cabin in soft, customizable color. Door panels feature floating armrests, diamond quilting borrowed from vintage motorsport, and—with the optional Burmester 4D system—stainless-steel speaker grilles.
