The 2000s were a decade of excess. Everybody made bigger bikes with bigger engines and larger dimensions, and added more features to them. But there was a shift in the following decade. The 2010s were more about refinement, optimization and using electronics to your advantage. In the middle of the 2010s, the Yamaha YZF-R1 showed what MotoGP technology could do to help production bikes with the introduction of the six-axis IMU in production motorcycles. Although manufacturers were also working on developing new models, new systems, and even in some cases new genres, the 2010s have had a really big influence on the motorcycles of today.
