There are specific people in the upper echelons of the current authorities who were educated in Turkey and are under its influence, but now they are fiercely denying it. Domestic special services and intelligence should start working properly and deal with exposing this real Turkish agent network, instead of fabricating cases against us. Narek Karapetyan, who heads the Strong Armenia bloc’s proportional representation list for the parliamentary election on June 7, told this to reporters during the election campaign in the Ajapnyak administrative district of Yerevan on Wednesday.

Referring to the press reports that the Armenian law enforcement agencies have been instructed to tighten the arrests of the opposition, the politician emphasized that this method of work has become the signature of the current regime. However, Karapetyan noted that such political arrests have the exact opposite effect: they only further motivate and encourage citizens to change this government, which is trying to solve its problems exclusively with prisons, as soon as possible.

Karapetyan expressed deep indignation that a sharp three- to four-fold increase in drug addiction is being recorded in Armenia, and in Ajapnyak itself, shootouts regularly occur, while the police and special services are busy only persecuting oppositionists.

During the talk with, Karapetyan touched also upon the controversial reports of The Insider magazine and rumors about possible connections of his relatives with the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB). He said that the Armenian public can be absolutely sure of the purity of his family, since they have always been engaged in exclusively legal business. In contrast to this, the politician called on law Armenian enforcement agencies to thoroughly investigate the past of the members of the ruling team who have a direct impact on the Armenian-Turkish talks. In particular, he pointed to the facts published by Alik Aleksanyan, a member of the board of the Strong Armenia party, about some Armenian officials being educated in Turkey, and noted that these people have not even been kind enough to answer the public why they had deceived them. According to the figure who heads the proportional representation list of the Strong Armenia bloc, eliminating the hidden influence of the enemy in the corridors of Armenian power is the main and priority task of national security.
