Charity done from one’s own pocket brings the strongest emotions and even pleasure, because throughout my life I have used only personal means to help people. Strong Armenia bloc’s prime ministerial candidate, businessman and philanthropist Samvel Karapetyan said this in a talk with a supporter.

During the conversation, Karapetyan recalled his first major charity project in Armenia, the construction of a church in Tashir town in 1994–1995. He noted that during those years he was tormented by the absence of a church in his native region, which was practically the only place in the country where there was no functioning church at that time. He said that it was the first church built in Armenia after the collapse of the Soviet Union.

Speaking about the essence of charity, Samvel Karapetyan classified it into three types: work carried out through fundraising through foundations, projects for tax benefits, and personal assistance from one’s own funds, which he considers the most significant and sincere.

The conversation paid special attention also to upbringing and generational succession. In this regard, Karapetyan said that from childhood he taught his children to be useful to society and choose the right benchmarks in life. He noted that the secret of success lies in trust: from the age of 12, he trusted his children, and from the age of 19, they were actively engaged in the family business. According to the candidate for the prime minister of Armenia, he is now completely confident in his children and knows that they will continue and develop his work.

In conclusion, Samvel Karapetyan stated that it is very important to set a good example not only for one’s own family, but also for all youth, so that the growing generation strives to create for the good of a strong Armenia.
