Georgia fully supports its friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people, Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze announced on Imedi LIVE.
Kobakhidze was responding to the question of what impression he has of the attitude of certain circles in Brussels towards Georgia and Armenia.
“As for comparisons with Armenia, it is a somewhat uncomfortable topic for us [i.e. Georgia], since we are neighbors, we have very warm relations and strategic partnership. Therefore, it would be wrong for us to compare ourselves with Armenia. Naturally, we will not do such a thing; it would simply not be right.
And in general, I would like to touch upon the attempts of both local agents and their foreign sponsors to pit us and Armenia against each other. It will not have any success in any aspect or direction. We fully support our friendly country Armenia and the Armenian people. This is the only thing we can say to Armenia.
I would like to thank Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, who shows a special attitude towards Georgia, and this is expressed in friendly relations, including directly between governments. He even directly said that without Georgia, talks about Armenia’s European integration would be impossible.
Do you remember what statement one of the high-ranking European officials [i.e. European Commission president Ursula von der Leyen] made after that? She said that Armenia is supposedly the shortest path connecting Central Asia to Europe. Apparently, in addition to economic stagnation and other ‘goodies,’ European bureaucrats are not so strong in geography,” the Georgian premier said.
