There were times and events when we expected other actions from our partners, at least actions provided for by the agreements, but we did not see them; everything is very relative. Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said this in an interview with Aysor.am, reflecting on the statement by the secretary of the Russian Security Council, Sergey Shoigu.

"We [i.e. Armenia] are not inclined to introduce any tension into Armenian-Russian relations; on the contrary, we are inclined to continue our partnership as normal," Mirzoyan added.

Commenting on Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk’s statement on the discussion of the matter of Armenia’s membership in the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), Ararat Mirzoyan said: “The issue of Armenia leaving the EAEU cannot be discussed until Armenia has submitted such an application and desire. And we have not submitted such a desire; therefore, the issue of our removal cannot be discussed.”

To the question of when Armenia will make a decision in this regard, Mirzoyan replied: “When there is a need to discuss the issue. I cannot say any timeframe, such an issue is not put on our agenda today.”

And when asked whether Armenia’s membership in the EAEU could be frozen until the country makes its decision, Mirzoyan responded: “Such a thing can’s happen. It’s an organization determined, guided by the consensus votes of Armenia. How can such a thing happen?”

At a meeting of the Russian Security Council’s special working group Wednesday, Russian Security Council secretary Sergey Shoigu addressed the Armenian authorities’ style of work, and noted that it does not correspond to the spirit of allied relations with Russia.

In addition, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexey Overchuk stated Wednesday that Armenia is facing a choice between the EAEU and the European Union.
