Lexus made the bold proclamation in 2021 about going fully battery-electric in North America, Europe, and China by 2030. Five years on and with four years left to realize that vision, the Japanese luxury brand owned by Toyota is, however, continuing to bet big on hybrids. Much has changed in the past few years — fully-electric vehicles (EVs) aren't selling by truckloads as previously expected, not in the US anyway, and demand for hybrids has gone up exponentially across segments. Very little surprise, then, that the recent launch of the eight-generation ES 350h has shown just how serious Lexus still is about hybrids. Possibly more now than before.
