The Iranian military has announced that it will no longer allow the transit of American weapons through the Strait of Hormuz to regional military bases, declaring that this strategic waterway is now under the “coordinated strategic control” of the Iranian armed forces.
“From now on, we [i.e. Iran] will not allow American weapons to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and reach regional bases,” Iranian military spokesperson, Brigadier General Mohammad Akramian said, according to Press TV.
He noted that any country that wants to use the Strait of Hormuz must do so under the supervision of the Iranian armed forces, ensuring “peaceful passage.” The western part of the strait is under the command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy, while the eastern part is under the control of the Islamic Republic of Iran Navy.
Akramian claimed that the control of the Strait of Hormuz will bring Iran income that will “exceed twice the income from oil sales.”
The brigadier general stressed that all the goals of the adversary during the last war, including the destruction of Iran’s missile and nuclear potential, the division of the country, and the overthrow of the system, have failed. He added that Iran’s military doctrine is now offensive in nature.
“After the first revolution [in Iran], which expelled the Shah, and after the second, which expelled America from Iran, today we will expel America from the entire region. Its presence here will be eliminated forever,” the Iranian army spokesperson said.
