The electric Xiaomi YU7 GT has become the fastest SUV on the famous Nurburgring Nordschleife race track, overtaking Audi and Porsche models, the company's press service informed Tuesday, reports the Autohome portal.
The Xiaomi YU7 GT SUV completed one lap of the 20.8-kilometer race track in 7 minutes 34.931 seconds. The electric car was driven by Xiaomi Auto's chief test pilot, Zheng Zhouxan. Photos from the race show that the model was taken to the track without a second row of seats and with a safety cage.
The record time was set by the special YU7 GT with the Track Package, the official presentation of which will take place on Thursday.
It is already known that it has a 1003 horsepower, two-motor all-wheel drive system, and a 101.7 kWh battery, which is capable of covering up to 705 km on a single charge—according to the CLTC cycle, and is also equipped with special aerodynamic spoilers.
The Nurburgring Nordschleife is one of the most popular race tracks in the automotive industry and is very famous for testing high-performance cars.
The Xiaomi YU7 GT was almost two seconds faster than the previous record holder, the Audi RS Q8 Performance (7 minutes 36.698 seconds), which had held the record since 2024. And since 2021, the title of the fastest SUV belonged to the Porsche Cayenne Turbo GT Coupe (7 minutes 38.925 seconds).
Another Xiaomi model, the SU7 Ultra sedan, now ranks third in the ranking of the fastest production electric cars at the Nurburgring-Nordschleife, behind only the leading Porsche Taycan Turbo GT and BYD's Yangwang U9 Xtreme hypercar.
