Russian President Vladimir Putin has congratulated his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev on Azerbaijan’s Independence Day anniversary, Aliyev’s press service reports.

“Azerbaijan has achieved impressive successes in the economic and social spheres and has gained a well-deserved standing in the world arena,” Putin’s congratulatory letter says, in particular.

“I am convinced that with joint efforts we will be able to ensure the further development of fruitful bilateral cooperation in various areas, as well as partnership in regional and international issues. This, undoubtedly, corresponds to the fundamental interests of the Russian and Azerbaijani peoples, and goes in the direction of strengthening security and stability in the South Caucasus and the Caspian region,” the letter also states.

In addition, it is emphasized that Moscow attaches great importance to friendly and allied relations with Baku.
