Two 24-hour strikes by London Underground drivers will go ahead on Tuesday and Thursday, as talks aimed at averting the action have broken down, the BBC understands.

Major disruption is expected on the Tube network while members of the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union walk out in a dispute over plans to introduce a voluntary four-day working week.

The RMT union previously said Transport for London (TfL) had refused to "meaningfully" engage in discussions over the the union's concerns, while TfL said the action was "disappointing".
