Lebanese President Joseph Aoun is ready to do the impossible to stop the war with Israel, after a ceasefire and direct talks between the two countries failed to end the hostilities.

"The framework that Lebanon has set for the talks includes the withdrawal of Israeli troops, a ceasefire, the deployment of the army along the border, the return of displaced persons, and economic aid," Aoun said in a statement. "It is my duty, based on my position and responsibility, to do the impossible and choose the path with the least losses to stop the war against Lebanon and its people."
