BMW has presented the Vision Alpina concept at the Villa d’Este elegance competition in Italy, outlining the direction of development of the Alpina brand after it came under the full management of the BMW Group, reports Autocar.

The concept has become the first public signal of a new strategy, within the framework of which Alpina will be positioned above the German automaker’s standard models, but below the flagship Rolls-Royce brand. The Vision Alpina is created in the format of a large grand tourer, with a length of about 5.2 meters, which is comparable to the Rolls-Royce Wraith.

The concept is not intended for serial production, but is considered a stylistic and ideological guide for the future Alpina automobile range. According to BMW, the first production model of the new generation of Alpina will be based on the BMW 7 Series and will be presented in 2027, with deliveries starting in early 2028.

Later, the lineup is also planned to include a modified BMW X7. A fully electric model is also being considered, but in the first phase, priority is being given to cars with internal combustion engines. The design of the Vision Alpina makes a reference to the brand's heritage, incorporating elements of classic models such as the 1978 B7 Turbo.

Externally, the concept has received a characteristic “shark” front end. The updated graphics of the Deko Set brand lines will now be applied by hand, rather than in the form of stickers, which emphasizes the brand's transition to a more premium segment. The design also uses discreet chrome, inspired by the classic BMW 507, and the overall outline of the concept is based on the architecture of BMW production models.

The Vision Alpina interior is designed in a pronounced luxury style: Lavalina leather, light wood elements, metal details with a watchmaking-inspired finish, as well as a sophisticated ambient lighting system are used. In the rear, built-in elements are provided for storing crystal glass accessories, which emphasizes the intention to equal the level of Mercedes-Maybach and Range Rover, with elements of exclusivity close to Ferrari.

Technically, the concept is equipped with a longitudinally mounted V8 engine at the front, and BMW emphasizes that the settings will be aimed at smoothness and comfort, not sporty aggressiveness. Alpina management notes that the production amount will remain at approximately the same level as in the previous period—about 2,500 cars per year. At the same time, the brand will gradually move to higher market segments, focusing on competition with Maybach and Range Rover, while maintaining limited exclusivity.

BMW emphasizes that the new phase of Alpina's development is built on a combination of the brand's heritage and a more premium positioning, as well as a gradual expansion of the model range, while maintaining the traditional emphasis on comfort and "unobtrusive" dynamics.
