Modern performance cars have become trapped in an endless horsepower war. Every year brings another headline boasting 500 horsepower, sub-four-second 0-60 times, and increasingly aggressive turbocharged engines designed more for spec-sheet bragging rights than genuine driver engagement. The problem is that many of these cars have become so heavy, so insulated, and so dependent on electronic intervention that they no longer feel playful on a real road.
